The product worked fine for about a month and then stopped. This way you won't have to pay for more should the product become defective and you need to send it out. Fortunately the warranty information is stored online and lasts for 4-5 yrs. Just be sure to save the original packaging if the product becomes defective. It has not been an unpleasant experience so only 4 stars. It would have been 3 but 5 yrs is a good deal on a warranty I didn't have to pay extra for.
I bought this external drive because of the service I have had from a smaller more portable drive for my laptop. Having contacted tech support I found very prompt reply to my e-mails and courteous communications. I would highly reccommend this drive.

warranty is for exchange only. had this unit for a couple of months. died. kiss your data goodbye unless you want to spend (many) hundreds of dollars to get it recovered. stay away.
